Taiping
Spend 1–2 days in Taiping: walk the historic centre, visit the Lake Gardens, Maxwell Hill and the zoo; add a mangrove trip if time permits.
Taiping is a compact colonial town in Perak with shaded arcades, a lake garden, a zoo and easy access to Maxwell Hill and mangroves. Its small size lets you see the main sights on foot in a day, but a second day lets you climb Bukit Larut or explore the mangrove reserve.
