Mandaue is the residential and industrial middle city of Metro Cebu, sitting between Cebu City and Mactan Island. It holds the north long-distance bus terminal, two bridges to Lapu-Lapu and the airport road, so most travellers cross it rather than stay. Its own sights are a church, a 1947 city hall and a market, worth two to three hours, not two nights.

Mandaue is a working city, not a tourist one: petty theft and traffic, not violent crime, are the realistic risks. Keep phones out of sight in the market and bus terminal, and use app rides at night.
