Barra do Turvo
Stop for a half-day or one night if you're driving the BR-116 between São Paulo and Curitiba and have confirmed access to waterfalls or river activities locally; otherwise skip.
Barra do Turvo is a small town (pop. ~8,100) on the BR-116 in São Paulo's South Coast region, between Cajati and the Paraná border. The draw is nature: waterfalls in the Barreiros area, the Pico do Caldeirão viewpoint, and the Turvo and Pardo rivers for rafting and canoeing. Access to these sites needs local confirmation. The town works as a lunch-and-walk stop or a quiet overnight for drivers, but there's no major sight that demands a full day.
