NavarreNavarre, Florida
Give Navarre 2–3 nights if you have a car: the beach is the point, the mainland is strip malls, and there is no public transit.
Navarre is a beach community on the Florida Panhandle between Pensacola and Destin, part of the Pensacola metro area. The draw is Navarre Beach across the causeway: white sand, emerald water and the quieter Navarre Beach Marine Park. The mainland along US 98 is mostly highway, chains and parking lots, so treat the trip as a beach stay, not a town visit. You need a car; rideshares are limited and priced at a premium.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- United States ↗Check whether you need an ESTA (Visa Waiver Program) or a visa on the official CBP and State Department sites; apply only through esta.cbp.dhs.gov, not third-party sites, and allow time before you book.
- United States ↗Several popular national parks use timed-entry or vehicle reservations in peak season; check each park's page on nps.gov and book on recreation.gov before fixing your dates.
- United States ↗Medical care is very expensive for visitors; buy travel insurance with high medical cover before you fly.
- United States ↗Tipping is expected: about 15–20% at sit-down restaurants and bars, and a tip for taxis, hotel staff and guides.

Getting around
A private car is effectively required: no public transit serves Navarre Beach, taxis are phone or pre-booked, and Uber and Lyft are limited and often priced at a premium. The Navarre Beach Causeway links downtown Navarre to the island. From Pensacola take US 98 east or the tolled SR 399 along Santa Rosa Island; from I-10 or Milton take FL 87 south; from Destin or Fort Walton Beach take US 98 west.

River town with a small historic centre; only worth it if you want a break from the beach.

Another beach strip; go only if you are already heading toward Pensacola or Alabama.

Inland and residential; nothing here justifies the drive on a short beach trip.

Too far for a day return from a beach base.

Condos and beachfront rentals across the causeway; walk to the sand, but few shops and no transit.

Motels, chain hotels and groceries; 5–15 min drive to the beach and cheaper per night.
Gulf Breeze / Pensacola Beach
Alternative bases 15–30 min west if you want more restaurants and a boardwalk.

Watch out
Safety
- Hurricane season runs Jun–Nov, peaking Aug–Oct: check evacuation zones and storm forecasts before booking a beach week.
- Rip currents are the main beach hazard; swim near a lifeguard post, manned in peak season only.
- Avoid soundside swimming right after heavy rain — runoff can make conditions hazardous.
- Rideshares are scarce and surge-priced; do not rely on one for an airport run.
- Summer heat and afternoon thunderstorms are routine Jun–Aug; plan beach time before noon.
