Hansville sits on the northern tip of the Kitsap Peninsula, about 25 minutes by car from the Kingston ferry. It is a small rural community with a lighthouse, a county park, a nature preserve and low rainfall for the region. There is one grocery store with a grill, a handful of rental houses and no hotel strip. Most travellers come for a half-day or one quiet night, not a multi-day base.

Kitsap Transit runs limited service in the area and connects to ferry terminals; full fare is about $2 and it is part of the ORCA network. - Foulweather Bluff has no pets allowed and parking is on the road shoulder only.
- Skunk Bay Lighthouse is private: view it from the water, not the land.
