Jeffersonville sits on the north bank of the Ohio River, directly across from Louisville, and the two are joined by the Big Four Bridge, a pedestrian and bicycle crossing. The historic downtown is small — a few blocks of Spring and Market streets — and most of what visitors do here is walk the bridge, eat on the riverfront, and use the town as a cheaper bed for Louisville. Two nights covers it; one is enough if Louisville is your real target.

Getting around
Downtown is walkable in 10–15 minutes end to end, and the Big Four Bridge is pedestrian-only, so you do not need a car for the core. For anything north of 10th Street or across to Clarksville and Louisville you need a car, taxi or rideshare. I-65 and I-265 cross the river; both crossings are tolled with all-electronic tolling and no booths, and the lowest rates go to transponder holders (local authority or E-ZPass). Amtrak ended service to Jeffersonville and Louisville in 2003, so rail is not an option.
