Keene is a tiny unincorporated community in Kern County, best known for the Cesar E. Chavez National Monument and the nearby Tehachapi Loop. With a population of about 430, it has no lodging, dining or services. Most travellers stop for an hour on the way between Bakersfield and Tehachapi or the Mojave Desert.
