Go for 2 nights in Apr–May or Sep–Nov for beach weather and Juréia trails; skip if you want a big-city break — the centre is small and quiet.
Peruíbe is a low-rise beach town on São Paulo's south coast, 2 h by bus from the capital, with a 5 km urban strip and a wilder southern edge where the Juréia-Itatins reserve begins. Most visitors come for the beach, the Abarebebê ruins and the Atlantic Forest trails; two nights covers the town, three or more lets you reach the reserve beaches with a guide.
