Give Victor Harbor one full day and one night: Granite Island causeway, the Bluff lookout and a whale-season stop. Budget about A$200 a day mid-range (2026 estimate); two nights only if you add Goolwa or the Cockle Train.
Victor Harbor is a coastal town of about 15,000 people, 80 km south of Adelaide and roughly a 90-minute drive. It is a weekend escape for Adelaide, busiest over summer school holidays and in late November when school-leavers arrive. The core is small and walkable: Ocean Street, the causeway to Granite Island and the Bluff. Southern right whales are visible from shore from May to October.

Getting around
The centre is walkable: Ocean Street, the causeway and Granite Island are all within about 15 minutes on foot. Parking along the water fills up, so park once and walk. A cycleway runs along the coast towards Goolwa, and bike hire is available in town. For anything beyond the centre you need a car or a coach.
