- Africa ↗When a route touches a yellow-fever country — even a transit of 12 hours or more — keep the original yellow card (ICVP) in your hand luggage; health desks and airlines can refuse boarding or entry without it.
- Africa ↗Nine African countries on this site have no trip line because governments advise against travel; several others have no-go regions. Read your government's advice for every country on the route before paying deposits.
- Southern Africa ↗A rental car may leave its home country only with the rental company's cross-border letter, the registration papers and paid road taxes at each post; driving into Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique or Angola without them ends at the border.
- Southern Africa ↗Across the subregion, plan every road leg to arrive before sunset: livestock, wildlife, pedestrians and unlit trucks make night driving the main cause of serious visitor accidents.
- Lesotho ↗Check visa and entry rules for your passport on official Lesotho government sources; you also need South African entry to reach it by road.
- Lesotho ↗Taking a South African rental car into Lesotho needs a cross-border letter from the rental company; Sani Pass needs a 4x4.
- Lesotho ↗Border posts have fixed opening hours; smaller posts close earlier than the main Maseru bridge.

Sehlabathebe National Park covers 65 km² of high-altitude grassland and sandstone formations in southeastern Lesotho, at an average elevation of 2,400 m. It is part of the Maloti-Drakensberg Transboundary World Heritage Site (shared with South Africa's uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park). The park is remote: the nearest town is Thaba-Tseka, 4–5 hours by 4x4, and the main access is from South Africa via the Bushman's Nek border post. It holds 65 recorded rock-art sites, the endangered Maloti minnow and several vulture species. The park is quieter than Ts'ehlanyane National Park in the north, and the landscape is more open, with fewer trees and more rock pools.

Time out
Finding the local time zone…
Times are local to the spot (zone loading). The half-hour margin is our rule of thumb, not an official figure; light fades earlier in forest or under cloud. Carry a headlamp on any route that could run late.
Accessibility
- The lodge area and the rock-art loop are on flat ground; the Tsoelikana Falls trail has steep sections and is not suitable for limited mobility.
- The park is at 2,400 m; the altitude may affect those with respiratory conditions.
Visiting lightly
- Carry out all rubbish; there is no waste collection in the park.
- Do not disturb the rock art or the Maloti minnow habitat.
- Support the local villages by buying supplies or hiring a guide.
