Sibonga
Half a day: visit the Simala Monastery complex, then move on. Not a base for exploring Cebu.
Sibonga is a pilgrimage town on Cebu's southeast coast, known for the Marist Monastery of the Holy Eucharist and the Simala Miraculous Mama Mary church. The ornate hilltop complex draws Catholic visitors and architecture fans. The rest of the town is a quiet coastal strip with little else for tourists. Most travellers stop for a few hours between Cebu City and Oslob or Moalboal.
