Scheveningen
Base in The Hague and treat Scheveningen as a half-day beach stop: 2–4 h on the sand, pier and harbour, then tram 1 or 9 back.
Scheveningen is the seaside district of The Hague — a fishing harbour, a former fishing village and a beach resort in one, about 5 km from the city centre. It is not a town you need to base a Netherlands trip on: most visitors ride tram 1 or 9 out for an afternoon, eat fish at the harbour and return to The Hague for the night. Sleep here only if you want the beach at dawn or the beach-club nightlife.
