Lashkargahلشکرگاه
Skip unless you have a specific, security-cleared reason to be in Helmand. No tourism infrastructure; the arch at Qala-e-Bost is the only sight, a half-hour drive south.
Lashkargah is the capital of Helmand Province, a city of about 200,000 people on the Helmand River. It has no functioning tourism sector. The only notable landmark is Qala-e-Bost, a ruined fortress with a decorative arch that appears on the 100 Afghani note. Travel in the region carries extreme security risks; consult your government's travel advice before any planning.
