Khorramshahr
Half a day to see the Warfare Museum and the Shatt al-Arab waterfront, then move on to Abadan or Ahvaz. One night only if you arrive late from Basra by ferry.
Khorramshahr is a port city on the Shatt al-Arab waterway, heavily damaged during the Iran-Iraq War and rebuilt. Its main draw is the Warfare Museum, which covers the 1980 battle. Most travellers use it as a transit point between Iran and Iraq via the Basra ferry, or as a short stop between Ahvaz and Abadan.
