Suquamish is a small community on the Port Madison Indian Reservation, home of the Suquamish tribe and the burial place of Chief Seattle. The sights sit within a short walk or drive of each other and the whole visit fits into half a day, so most travellers pair it with Poulsbo or Bainbridge Island rather than staying overnight.

Safety
- Distances between the museum, the park and the cemetery are longer than they look on a map: plan on driving between them.
- The public dock is free for short daytime tie-ups only; overnight moorage is limited to tribal vessels.
- Summer weekends fill the resort and the Poulsbo hotels: book ahead.
- Cell coverage is fine in town but patchy on the water and on some back roads.
