Lucan
Give Lucan half a day: the Donnelly museum plus a Main Street stop. Sleep in London or Exeter — Lucan has no hotel.
Lucan is a small agricultural village on Highway 4, 28 km north of London, Ontario. It is a half-day stop, not a base: one museum, one main street, a splash pad and a December parade. Almost everyone arrives by car, and the nearest beds are in Exeter or London.

- North America ↗Crossing between the US, Canada and Mexico by land needs your passport even on a day trip; rental cars need the company's written permission to cross, and most US and Canadian rental insurance stops at the Mexican border.
- North America ↗Cannabis is legal in Canada and in many US states, but taking any amount across the US, Canadian or Mexican border is a federal crime — including edibles and vapes.
- North America ↗The busiest US and Canadian national parks need timed-entry, campsite or lodge reservations in summer; release dates are months ahead.
- Canada ↗Visa-exempt travellers flying to or through Canada usually need an eTA; check your passport on the official Government of Canada site (canada.ca) and apply only there.
- Canada ↗A Parks Canada pass is needed to stop in national parks such as Banff and Jasper; some spots (for example Moraine Lake) are reached only by shuttle or tour, so book ahead.
- Canada ↗Keep well away from bears, elk and moose; carry bear spray on Rockies trails and follow trail closures.

Getting around
A car is effectively required: sights sit along Highway 4 and Elginfield Road with no walkable cluster. Huron Shores Area Transit runs about twice daily to London and Grand Bend, with onward links to Sarnia, Goderich and Strathroy on set weekdays — check the current timetable before relying on it. Inside the village you can walk Main Street in about 10 minutes.

- Bus service is a few runs a day, not a turn-up-and-go network; missing the last bus means a taxi or a long wait.
- Winter driving on Highway 4 and side roads can be icy; snow tyres or all-weather tyres help Dec–Mar.
- Small-town kitchens close early; check hours before a late dinner.
