Chesham is a market town in the Chiltern Hills, 25 miles north-west of London, and the far western terminus of the Metropolitan line. It is small: a pedestrianised High Street, a market square, a parish church and a country park. Most visitors see it in half a day, or use it as a quiet, cheaper base for the Chilterns and London.

Getting around

The centre is walkable in 10–15 min. Local buses (Arriva, Carousel and others) link the town with Amersham, Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Hemel Hempstead and Watford; check timetables before you rely on them. Taxis are the fallback for the outskirts. National Cycle Route 57 passes through the town.
