San Jose is a low‑key gateway on Occidental Mindoro’s southwest tip. Its three offshore islands (Ambulong, Ilin, White Island) and proximity to Apo Reef make a short island‑hopping itinerary worthwhile, while the town centre offers a few eateries, markets and a modest beach scene. Power brownouts and limited medical facilities mean a brief stay is safest.
