Go for 1–2 nights if you want waterparks, lake boats or river rafting; skip it if you came for colonial sightseeing.
Jojutla is a low-rise market town in southern Morelos, about 45 km south of Cuernavaca, and the practical base for Lake Tequesquitengo, the Amacuzac river and a cluster of waterparks. The 2017 earthquake destroyed much of the centre, including the old parish church, so the rebuilt town is functional rather than pretty. Come for the water, not the architecture.

Getting around
The town and the lake are spread out, so taxis and ride-hailing are the default; agree the fare before you get in. Pullman de Morelos buses link Jojutla with Cuernavaca and Mexico City. Having a car makes the waterparks and Jardines de México far easier; toll roads are the safer option.

- Lake Tequesquitengo has a reputation for strong currents and past drownings: use a life vest and go with an operator, not on your own.
