Horsens is a small East Jutland port town at the head of its own fjord, 28 minutes by train from Aarhus and about 2.5–3 hours from Copenhagen. The compact, pedestrianised centre, a large English-style park and a former state prison turned cultural centre fill a day comfortably. It works as a stop on the Aarhus–Copenhagen rail line rather than a destination in itself.

The station sits on the west edge of the centre and the sights are walkable. Free pink city bikes are lent at several spots by the tourist office (show ID, return to the same place). Local buses run from the terminal at the station; a single ticket is valid for one hour.

Horsens is calm and safe to walk day and night. Real risks are winter ice on pavements, bicycles in the pedestrian zone and the usual late-night bar caution.
