Warsaw is a small lake town of about 2,100 people in Central Missouri, sitting where the uppermost arm of the Lake of the Ozarks meets Truman Lake. It is a boating, fishing and cabin base, not a sightseeing city: the draws are the two lakes, Harry S. Truman State Park and a compact Main Street. Most travellers use it as a one-night stop on US-65 between Sedalia and Springfield, or as a weekend lake base from Kansas City.

You need a car. Downtown is a walkable grid, but the rest of town and every lake access point are spread out along US-65 and MO-7 with no useful bus service. Drive times inside town are 5–15 min; the state park is about 15 min west.

Warsaw is a quiet small town and violent crime is rare. The real risks are water and road: boat and swimming accidents on the lakes, deer on US-65 and MO-7 at dusk, and summer heat.
