Skip Henrietta as a base unless you have a reason to be here (RIT, a Thruway stop, cheap beds): 1 night, or a half-day for the railroad museums.
Henrietta is a car-first suburb south of Rochester, sitting where Interstate 90 meets Interstate 390. It has no walkable centre: the sights are a cobblestone farmhouse, two railroad museums and a rail trail, and the practical draws are the RIT campus, the Marketplace Mall retail strip and a cluster of chain hotels that undercut downtown Rochester on price. Most travellers use it as a bed for one night on a road trip, or as a half-day add-on to a Rochester stay.

Getting around
A car is the only practical way around: distances between the mall strip, RIT and the museums are 5–10 km and pavements are patchy. RGRTA buses (routes 24/24a, 68, 91 plus RIT campus routes) run to Rochester and the mall, but schedules are thin. The Lehigh Valley Trail is fine on foot or by bike for the trail itself.
