Its draws are a luxury mall, a small historical village and a 100-acre nature centre, all spread along multi-lane roads. Troy is a low-crime, well-lit suburb and generally safe for visitors. The real risks are driving: winter ice, I-75 rush-hour congestion and long, fast multi-lane roads with poor pedestrian crossings.
  • Distances between sights are long and pavements are patchy: plan on driving, not walking.
  • Bus coverage is thin; check SMART routes and times before relying on them.
