Grants Pass is a small Southern Oregon town on Interstate 5, about 2 h 45 min by car from Eugene and 30 min from Medford. Its draw is the Rogue River: jetboat rides, rafting and riverside parks. Downtown is walkable in an hour; the rest of the town is strip-mall driving. Most travellers pass through on the I-5 corridor or use it as a base for the Oregon Caves and the redwood coast road.

Getting around

A car is the practical choice: sights and motels sit 2–5 km apart along 6th and 7th St. Josephine Community Transit (JCT) runs local buses with a single downtown transfer stop at NE 6th Ave and B St, plus routes to Cave Junction, Merlin and Medford. Taxis exist but are few; rideshare coverage is thin. Downtown itself is walkable.

Safety

Daytime downtown and the riverside parks are fine. The real risks are property crime from cars, drug use in parks after dark, and slow emergency response on rural county roads: lock the car, keep to lit streets, and skip unfamiliar back roads at night.
