Bartow is the Polk County seat: a small historic downtown, a free county museum in the 1908 courthouse, and the L.B. Brown House. It is not a resort town and has no theme parks. Most travellers see it in two to four hours between Lakeland and Lake Wales, or use it as a low-cost bed base for the county.
