Getting around

Downtown is walkable in 15–20 minutes end to end; park once and walk. Mountain Transit Authority runs buses in town and to nearby towns, roughly 07:00–18:00 (check routes and days). A car is needed for the caverns, the Greenbrier River Trail and White Sulphur Springs. I-64, US-219 and US-60 meet here.

A small, low-crime town; the real risks are mountain-road ice and fog, patchy cell coverage, and seasonal closures at the caverns and small museums. Standard US precautions apply downtown at night.

  • Cell coverage is patchy in the valleys and on the Greenbrier River Trail.
