Go for one full day: Hancock Shaker Village in the morning, Jiminy Peak in the afternoon. Sleep in Pittsfield or Lenox, not here.
Hancock is a town of about 700 people in the Berkshires, split by a mountain ridge with no road joining its north and south halves. Two things justify the trip: Hancock Shaker Village, a preserved Shaker community of 20 buildings on roughly 1,200 acres, and Jiminy Peak, an alpine resort that runs skiing in winter and a mountain coaster and alpine slide in summer. Everything else is trail, farm stand and forest. One day covers both; two nights is the most most travellers need, and most of them sleep in Pittsfield, Lanesborough or Williamstown rather than in Hancock itself.

Getting around
You need a car. There is no public transport inside the town and no road links north Hancock to south Hancock: to get from one to the other you drive out through New York (Route 43 to Route 22, then US 20 via Stephentown and New Lebanon) or through Lanesborough and Pittsfield (Brodie Mountain Road to Bailey Road to US 7, then US 20). Budget 30–45 min for a trip that looks short on the map. US 20 serves the southern half; Route 43 and Brodie Mountain Road serve the northern half.
