Watch out

Safety

Tanjung Bira is generally safe. Watch your belongings on the beach and avoid swimming alone in strong currents. The main risk is the lack of ATMs and medical facilities.
  • Only one ATM in the area, 2 km (1.2 mi) from the beach — bring enough cash.
  • Weekends and holidays get busy with domestic tourists; book accommodation ahead.
  • Snorkelling gear rental is about Rp50,000 per day (check).
