Poole is a harbour town on the Dorset coast, 2.5 hours by train from London Waterloo and 15 minutes from Bournemouth. Its pull is the second-largest natural harbour in the world, the Sandbanks peninsula, Brownsea Island and a compact Old Town. Most visitors use it as a base for the Jurassic Coast and the New Forest, or as a quieter alternative to Bournemouth next door.
