Hoboken is a one-square-mile city on the Hudson, 10–15 minutes from Manhattan by PATH train or ferry. It is a residential and nightlife town rather than a sightseeing base: the draw is the riverfront walk with the New York skyline, the bars and restaurants along Washington Street, and the 1907 Hoboken Terminal. One hotel means most visitors come for an afternoon and evening, then leave.

Walk: the city is about 2 km end to end and parking is scarce. PATH trains run 24 h to Manhattan (33rd St line) and to Jersey City and Newark. NJ Transit trains and the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail leave from Hoboken Terminal; NY Waterway ferries cross to Midtown and the World Financial Center. Citi Bike docks are shared with Jersey City and New York.

Safety
- Parking is the main trap: most street sides are resident-permit only, and non-residents face a 4-hour limit plus street-cleaning rules. Read every sign.
- Garage rates rise sharply for overnight stays, and some garages are resident-only or monthly-contract: ask before you leave the car.
- Weekend nights on Washington Street are loud and crowded; bar closing time spills into the streets.
- PATH fares need a MetroCard or contactless tap; the system runs all night but late trains are infrequent.
