Getting around

The village is compact and walkable. Trains run about hourly from Newcastle (35 min) and continue to Hexham; the station is half a mile south of the centre. Buses 684, 685 and 10 run from Newcastle Eldon Square, roughly hourly to every 30 min, 45–70 min. You need wheels or a taxi for Aydon Castle and Hadrian's Wall.

Safety

A quiet, low-crime village; the real risks are dark unlit lanes after pub closing, fast traffic on the A69 and riverbank paths that flood after heavy rain.
  • The station footbridge has been out of use; reach the Hexham-bound platform via the south-side car park (check before you travel).
  • Corbridge Roman Town has limited opening — weekends only in some seasons; check English Heritage before you go.
  • The A69 is a fast dual carriageway with no pavement; cyclists should use loops of the old main road.
  • Corbridge Music Festival has been on hold since 2019; don't plan a trip around it.
