Mount Heng (衡山), also known as Nányuè (南岳, south peak), is one of China's Five Sacred Mountains, sacred to Taoists and Buddhists. The park centres on Zhurong Peak (1,300 m), reached by cable car or a full‑day trek. The Grand Temple at the base is a large complex with Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian halls. The mountain is a popular day‑trip from Changsha or Hengyang.
