Delray Beach is a small city on Florida's Atlantic coast, about 67,000 people, built around one street: Atlantic Avenue, called "The Avenue". It runs from the Intracoastal Waterway east to a free public beach, with restaurants, bars and shops packed along it. Two nights covers the beach, the Avenue and one nature stop; three nights if you want the Morikami gardens and a day trip to Boca Raton or West Palm Beach. Winter (December to April) is the season to go; summer is hot, humid and inside hurricane season.

Downtown and the beach are walkable, but the city is spread out and a car is the practical choice for the Morikami gardens, the wetlands and the airports. Tri-Rail runs regional trains to Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Miami, and a free downtown shuttle loops between the Tri-Rail station and the beach (check current routes and hours). Taxis and rideshare cover short hops.
