Novyi SvetНовый Свет

Go for a half-day or one night: a small resort with a winery, two beaches and coastal walks. Not a base for exploring Crimea.

Novyi Svet is a tiny Black Sea resort in Crimea, known for its sparkling wine factory and the protected natural park that surrounds it. The town is walkable in 15 minutes, with a central beach and a quieter Tsar Beach. Most visitors come for a day trip from Sudak or stay one night to hike Sokol Mountain and taste wine. The season runs May to October; peak prices and crowds hit late August through September.

  • Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
  • Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
  • Eastern Europe ↗Reach this subregion only from the EU side — Romania for Moldova — through crossings run by recognised authorities; no route through Ukraine, Belarus or Russia is planned here.
  • Eastern Europe ↗Re-read your government's advice for Moldova (it covers Transnistria) in the week you travel; the situation next door changes fast.
  • Eastern Europe ↗Carry euros in cash for Transnistria and village Moldova; cards stop working at the Dniester.
  • Russia ↗Check your own government travel advice for Russia before any booking; advice depends on your passport and changes without notice.
  • Russia ↗Direct flights from much of Europe and North America are suspended; no independent tourist route is documented here.
  • Russia ↗Confirm that your travel insurance and medical evacuation cover apply to Russia before you rely on it.

Watch out

Safety

Crimea is under international sanctions and travel advisories vary by government. Check your country's advice before planning. Within the town, petty crime is low; watch for uneven paths on the hike to Tsar Beach.
  • Water supply may be limited to 2 hours a day; check if your accommodation has a boiler or accumulator.
  • Road from Sudak is winding and narrow; let local drivers handle it.
  • Peak season (late Aug–Sep) pushes accommodation prices up; book ahead.
  • English is not widely spoken; have a map or offline translation app.
