The village is compact and walkable, but there is little to fill more than a day. Most travellers come from Manchester for the canal and the Middlewood Way, or stay one night before the Peak District.

Getting around

The village is small and walkable. Trains from Manchester Piccadilly run twice an hour to Marple (25 min) and twice an hour to Rose Hill Marple (30 min). Stagecoach buses 383/384 loop from Stockport every 15–30 min. The Middlewood Way and canal towpath are for walking and cycling.
