Batopilas
Go only if you want a deep-canyon mining town reached by a long, winding road: 1–2 nights, dry months, cash in hand, no signal.
Batopilas sits at the bottom of a side canyon of the Copper Canyon system, about 1,200 people, once a silver-mining town and now a Pueblo Mágico. The road in is the main event: hours of switchbacks from Creel or a long run from Chihuahua via Casas Coloradas. Come for the ruins, the river, the old mission church at Satevo and the silence, not for services. Two nights is enough; one night is a rush.

Getting around
The town is small and walkable; expect 5–15 minutes on foot between the plaza, the church and the river. For Satevo and the mine entrances you need a vehicle, a local driver or a long, hot walk. Ask your hotel to arrange a truck and driver rather than renting a car for the canyon road.

- The access road is unpaved in stretches, narrow and exposed; landslides and washouts close it in the rainy season — confirm road status locally before you commit.
