Mora
Give Mora one full day plus a night: Zorn's house, the Vasaloppet finish and a Dala horse workshop at Nusnäs. Two nights if you add Orsa or Rättvik.
Mora sits on the isthmus between Lake Siljan and Lake Orsa, about four hours by train from Stockholm and a stop on the Inlandsbanan. It is the home of the Dala horse, the painter Anders Zorn and the finish line of the Vasaloppet ski race. The town itself is small and walkable; the sights that matter are spread along the lake shore and out at Nusnäs.

Getting around
The centre is flat and small enough to walk: church, Zorngården, Vasaloppet portal and the lake shore are all within about 15 minutes of each other. Dalatrafik buses cover the outer sights — bus 108 runs to Nusnäs — and a single ticket is 35 kr. Taxis are expensive; Mora Taxi is the local firm. A car helps for Siljansfors, Gesunda and the villages around the lake.

Safety
- Train tickets on the Dalabanan sell out on Fridays and Sundays; book ahead on sj.se.
- Morastrand station is closer to the centre but has shorter platforms, so not every train stops there — check your service.
- Many workshops, cafés and Tomteland run summer-only or Christmas-only hours; confirm before travelling out to Nusnäs or Gesunda.
- Winter roads need winter tyres Dec–Mar; daylight in December is short.
