Overland Park is a large, affluent suburb of Kansas City on the Kansas side: 197,000 people, low-rise office parks, malls and free parking almost everywhere. There is no old town to wander. You come here for a cheaper, quieter bed within 20–30 minutes of Kansas City, or for family stops like Deanna Rose Farmstead and the arboretum. Two nights covers it; most visitors use it as a base and drive into Missouri for the day.

A car is the practical choice: streets are grid-based (named north–south, numbered east–west) and nearly all parking is free. Metcalf Ave crosses most of the city but jams 17:00–19:00. RideKC buses run from Kansas City and within Johnson County, but stops are sparse and service is limited — check times before relying on it.
