Bathurst is a small harbour city on Chaleur Bay, about 12,100 people, at the mouth of the Nepisiguit River. It is a working town with a beach, a marsh reserve and a waterfall, not a resort. Most travellers pass through on the Acadian Coast route; those who stop need a car, because the sights sit 10–20 minutes apart by road.
