Buraydahبريدة

Skip Buraydah unless you are a date buyer or need a Qassim stopover: one night is enough for the museum and the date market.

Buraydah, the capital of Qassim province, is a conservative agricultural city known for its date market and the Buraydah Museum. Most travellers use it as a rail stop between Riyadh (2.5 h by train) and Ha'il or as a base for the region. The city has few sights and a strict social code; plan for a single night.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps (Uber, Careem) are the main options; the city is car-oriented. Walking between sights is possible in the centre but not comfortable in summer.

Watch out

Safety

Buraydah is very safe for crime, but the conservative social code is enforced: dress and behaviour rules are strict. Summer heat is a real risk; carry water and avoid midday outdoors.
  • Conservative dress code: women should wear an abaya and cover the face; men should avoid shorts.
  • Furnished apartments may not accept single men; check before booking.
  • The date market is best visited in the morning; afternoon closures are common.
