Daallo Mountain
Visit Daallo Mountain for a full day: hike the escarpment trail to the summit for a view of the Gulf of Aden, then return to Erigavo by nightfall. The park has no entry fee, but you need a tour operator to access the campsites and to arrange transport from Erigavo. Go between November and March when the forest is green and the heat is lower.

- Africa ↗When a route touches a yellow-fever country — even a transit of 12 hours or more — keep the original yellow card (ICVP) in your hand luggage; health desks and airlines can refuse boarding or entry without it.
- Africa ↗Nine African countries on this site have no trip line because governments advise against travel; several others have no-go regions. Read your government's advice for every country on the route before paying deposits.
- East Africa ↗Carry the yellow fever certificate on every leg of a multi-country trip: Uganda and Burundi check it for all arrivals, and a stop in Kenya or Ethiopia makes the next border ask for it.
- East Africa ↗Advice for Ethiopia, Somaliland, Eritrea, Somalia, South Sudan and the Congo border areas can change within days; read your government's page the week you fly and before every regional flight.

Daallo Mountain is a limestone and gypsum escarpment in the Sanaag region of Somalia, near the base of Mount Shimbiris, the country's highest peak. It is one of the few remaining forested areas in the Somali region, with a biodiversity that is among the richest in the country. The park has no official visitor infrastructure, no entry fee, and no marked trails; you must arrange a tour from Erigavo, Las Anod or Hargeisa. The main activity is a hike to the summit, which offers a view of the Gulf of Aden more than 2,000 metres below. Camping is permitted, but only the tour operators' campsites are equipped.
