Pincher Creek
Stay 1–2 nights as a base for Waterton Lakes and the Crowsnest Pass; skip it as a stand-alone stop unless you want the heritage village.
Pincher Creek is a town of about 3,600 in the foothills of Southern Alberta, on Highway 6 about 100 km west of Lethbridge and 217 km southwest of Calgary. It works as a cheaper, quieter base for Waterton Lakes National Park, Beauvais Lake and the Crowsnest Pass, with a pioneer village and a 1910 mansion in town. Most travellers pass through on the way to the mountains; one or two nights is enough.
