Cala Millor

Give Cala Millor 3–5 nights as a beach base, not a sightseeing stop: the sand is the point, and a car or the 424/425 bus covers the rest.

Rules in force · 9Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window…
  • Europe ↗Non-EU visitors get 90 days in any rolling 180-day window, counted across all 29 Schengen states together — not per country; the Entry/Exit System now logs each crossing, so an overstay is detected automatically.
  • Europe ↗On the first Schengen entry since EES began, non-EU travellers give four fingerprints and a face photo at the border instead of a passport stamp; there is nothing to apply for or pay in advance.
  • Iberia ↗Plan meals on the Iberian clock: Spanish kitchens serve lunch from about 13:30–14:00 and dinner from 20:30–21:00; Portugal eats an hour or so earlier. Early evenings are for tapas or petiscos, not full meals.
  • Iberia ↗Inland Spain and Portugal (Seville, Córdoba, Madrid, the Alentejo) pass 40 °C in heatwaves from late June to August: sightsee before 11:00 and after 18:00, and keep July–August for the coasts and the green north.
  • Iberia ↗Andorra and Gibraltar have their own border and customs rules and are reached only through Spain (or France for Andorra); read their pages before adding them, especially if you hold a limited Schengen visa.
  • Spain ↗Spain is in the Schengen area. Check the entry rules for your passport on official sources; the EU's Entry/Exit System registers non-EU visitors at the first Schengen border, and further pre-travel authorisation rules are being introduced.
  • Spain ↗High-speed trains have airport-style baggage screening at the station and boarding gates that close a few minutes before departure: arrive early.
  • Spain ↗Carry your passport or ID: police may ask for it, and hotels must register every guest's document.
  • Spain ↗The Alhambra in Granada and the Sagrada Família in Barcelona sell timed tickets that sell out weeks ahead in season; book on the official sites before you fix your dates.

Cala Millor is the biggest resort on Mallorca's east coast, a 1.8 km sandy beach with a low-rise strip running north into Cala Bona and south towards Sa Coma and S'Illot. It is a package-holiday town: hotels, promenade, family beaches, caves and boat trips nearby. Come for the sea and the easy logistics, not for a historic centre.

Watch out

Safety

A low-crime resort town; the real risks are sunburn, rip currents outside the lifeguard season and late-night drinking on the strip. Keep bags zipped on the beach.
  • Bus 401 may not be used for the coast stretch beyond Portocristo: take the 424 or 425 instead.
  • Many hotels and restaurants shut from November to March; check before booking a winter trip.
  • The islet at S'Illot is eroded limestone: do not try to land on it.
  • Cave and waterpark tickets are dated or capacity-limited in summer: book ahead.
  • Sun and sea are the main hazards: no lifeguards outside the summer season.

Not a trip line yet

This is a basic guide: no airport-to-bed contract, walking clusters or day plans are published for Cala Millor. Airport, fare and schedule details are unverified; check the operators before you fly.

What we know, and what is coming

On this page

  1. Best months: May–Jun, Sep–Oct · avoid Jul–Aug (peak heat, crowds and prices); many hotels and bars close Nov–Mar · month by month →
  2. 1 airport and 4 areas to sleep in
  3. Weather: a 7-day forecast and monthly averages
  4. Cost per day in 3 bands
  5. 7 day-trips, door to door
  6. 5 things to watch out for, with emergency numbers

Coming as the guide grows

  1. Airport-to-bed contract for PMI: last A42 departure, taxi fallback, overnight rung.
  2. Walking clusters with rescue anchors: Cala Millor centre, Cala Bona marina, Sa Coma and S'Illot, Sa Servera.
  3. Place pages with verified cutoffs (Drach Caves, Hams' Caves, Castillo de Amer, Poblat talaiòtic de l'Illot) and eat pages with last orders.
  4. Seasonal closure fixtures so winter arrivals get a clear go or skip.
