Go for 2 nights: a colonial pueblo mágico with a walkable centre, 1.5 h from Navojoa by bus. Skip if you want beaches or nightlife.
Álamos is Sonora's colonial counterweight: a silver-mining town of about 9,000 people in the Sierra Madre foothills, with arcaded streets, a 1757–1804 parish church and a plaza built in 1904. It is a pueblo mágico and a state historical site. Two nights covers the centre and the Cuchujaqui reserve; three if you add birding or a festival. Most travellers reach it via Navojoa, not directly.

Getting around
The centre is walkable: cobbled streets, few pavements, and the plaza, church and museum are within 10 minutes of each other. No local bus network worth using. Taxis are short-hop and cheap; agree the fare first. A car helps for the Cuchujaqui reserve and outlying mining sites, but the last stretch is rough.
