Troy Historical National Park protects the hill of Hisarlık beside the village of Tevfikiye, 30 km southwest of Çanakkale, where a tell holds roughly 4,000 years of settlement stacked in layers from Troy 0 (about 3600 BC) to a Roman city abandoned after earthquakes around 500 AD. The visible walls belong mainly to Troy VI–VII, the period the Iliad story is tied to. The site joined the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1998, and the four-floor Troy Museum at Tevfikiye explains the layers that the outdoor ruins do not. The wider park runs from the D550 highway down to the Aegean near Geyikli, the ferry port for Bozcaada; it has no gate, hours or fee of its own, and most visitors base in Çanakkale and day-trip.

How much does it cost to enter Troy?
The ruins were 100 TL per person in 2023 and the Troy Museum was a separate 100 TL; Turkish museum prices have risen since, so treat those as a floor and check the current figure at the gate or on muze.gov.tr. The wider national park has no fee of its own.
What are the best hikes in Troy?
There is no long trail network. The main walk is the 1.5–2 hour loop over the Hisarlık tell, on lumpy stone and dirt that gets slippery after rain. Add the 1 km walk east to Çıplak village, and drive the park lanes to the coast near Geyikli if you want more ground.
When is the best time to visit Troy?
Late April to May and September to October: dry paths, mild temperatures and long days. July and August are hot with almost no shade on the hill, so start at the 10:00 opening. December to February is wet, windy and short on daylight.
Do I need a guide for Troy?
No, but the ruins are hard to read on their own. Do the museum first for the layer-by-layer story, or hire a licensed guide in Çanakkale; signage alone leaves most visitors guessing which wall is which.
