Penticton sits on a narrow strip of land between Okanagan Lake and Skaha Lake, in British Columbia's South Okanagan. It is a summer town: two beaches, a lazy river channel you float down, more than thirty wineries within a short drive, and the Kettle Valley rail trail. Winter is quiet apart from skiing at Apex Mountain. Two nights covers the core; three if you add a winery day.

Getting around
The city is compact: about 15 min to bike lake to lake, just over an hour on foot. BC Transit runs five local routes plus a night route (regular service ends around 19:00, night route about 22:00; Sunday only two routes). A car is the practical choice for wineries, which sit outside town. Bike rentals from about $35–40/day.
