Finike is a citrus-growing coastal town on the D400 between Kemer and Demre, about 2 h 15 min by bus from Antalya airport. It is not a resort: the beach is a 14 km mix of sand, dirt and pebbles, and the reason to stop is the cluster of little-excavated Lycian and Roman cities in the hills behind it, above all Limyra. Most travellers pass through on the Antalya–Kaş bus; one night is enough, two if you want to walk a Lycian Way section or see Arykanda and Rhodiapolis as well.

Getting around

The town is strung out along the D400, so walking the whole seafront is slow. Local buses from the otogar include FT01 to Turunçova, FT02 to Kumluca and FH06 to Hasyurt. Taxis are easy to find and cheap by European standards. For Limyra, Arykanda and Rhodiapolis you need a car, taxi or a tour: no useful public bus reaches the trailheads.

The main reason to come: theatre, Lycian necropolises and the mausoleum of Gaius Caesar. Adult ticket around ₺70 (2026 estimate).

Free entry, 24 hours, and usually empty. Steep, exposed hillside: go early, carry water.

Rhodiapolis and Korydalla

Watch out

Safety

Low-crime small town; the real risks are the busy D400 with no pedestrian shoulder, summer heat on exposed ruins, and unmarked drops at overgrown sites. Standard advice applies: no valuables on the beach, use licensed taxis.
  • The D400 is busy and has no safe pedestrian shoulder; do not walk the Lycian Way where it merges with the road. Take a bus 20 km east to Mavikent to rejoin the trail.
  • Ruins are unkempt and overgrown: wear closed shoes, carry water, and watch for goats, sheep and loose masonry.
  • Beach is mixed sand, dirt and pebbles; swim shoes help.
  • Limyra and Rhodiapolis hours and tickets are not reliably posted online: confirm on arrival before you commit to a taxi.
