Give Ozamiz one full day: the Spanish fort and Cotta shrine are the reason to stop. Two nights if you use it as a ferry or bus link to Iligan, Dipolog or Cebu.
Ozamiz is a port city on Panguil Bay and the largest city in Misamis Occidental, with a working harbour rather than a resort strip. The draw is Fuerte de la Concepcion y del Triunfo, an 18th-century stone fort with a small museum and a pilgrimage shrine on its wall, plus a cathedral holding Mindanao's only pipe organ. Most travellers pass through on the way to Iligan, Dipolog or Cebu; a single day covers the sights.
