One night as a base for Mammoth Cave and Barren River Lake; the town itself is a 2–3 hour walk, not a destination.
Glasgow is the county seat of Barren County and the practical base for the Caves and Lakes region: Mammoth Cave is about 30 minutes west, Barren River Lake State Resort Park about 15 miles south. Downtown is small — a square, a handful of historic buildings, a Civil War fort replica — and you can walk it in an afternoon. Most travellers sleep here for one or two nights and spend the days underground or on the water. Note the alcohol rules: Glasgow is a limited-sale town, the rest of the county is dry, and Cave City is the nearest wet option.
