Haaksbergen

Haaksbergen is a small Twente town of about 24,000 people, 15 km south of Enschede, with a textile past, a working watermill and a heritage steam railway to Boekelo. It is a half-day stop or an overnight base for cyclists, not a destination on its own. Most visitors come by car or bus from Enschede or Hengelo.

The centre is walkable in 15 minutes. Bikes are the best way to reach the watermill and the countryside. Buses 53, 63 and 97 leave from the bus station on the Zeedijk. A car helps for day trips.
